Job Description

Our client is looking to develop an OGC compliant Web Mapping Service (WMS) that will insert various types of maps into its range of web sites.

As well as the basic WMS there will be a need to set up various tools to specify the parameters applicable to the map and other tools that enable the viewer to change what is seen on the web page.

The development environment this is expected to work in is as follows:

GIS development tool Pitney Bowes MapXtreme 2008, 6.8.0
Windows 2003 Server with IIS 6
Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 with C#
Visual Source Safe
Web development has to be compliant to PAS 78 accessibility (which includes standards on accessibility , valid xhtml, use of client side scripting, etc)
Documentation
Summaries at the beginning of files - purpose of file and contents
Descriptions of variables Descriptions of the purpose of each class and method and dependancies on other classes and methods
Ideally UML documentation with class diagrams and class interaction sequence diagrams
We should be given the source code for the project
Databases: Oracle 10 and SQL Server 2000/5

The successful candidate will be required to instruct Council IT and GIS development staff in the design and use of the solutions provided.
