Job Description

Job Purpose

To teach and assess students to meet the requirements of the College quality standards within the plumbing curriculum area.

Main Duties

·To teach 864 hours per annum on a range of courses.

·To provide all the necessary support to students to enable achievements up to level 3 within the college system.

·Act as a personal tutor to a designated group of students and provide advice and guidance on both pastoral and academic matters.

·Demonstrate and monitor the proper and safe use of equipment, procedures and facilities and generally take responsibility for students learning on agreed programmes of study in accordance with post holder’s experience.

·Take an active interest in the furtherance of good classroom practice and promote the professional development of staff and take part in the college appraisal system.

·Contribute to the development of, and be course leader for designated full-time/part-time programmes.

·Take an active role in the Colleges quality assurance systems and processes.

·To be able to contribute to key skills teaching.

·Contribute to the development of, and be course leader for designated full-time/part-time programmes.

·Cover in the event of staff absence.

Person Specification

Minimum of 5 years experience within the relevant industry.

You will need to be physically fit and agile in order to conduct practical demonstrations.

Have possession of, or be committed to achieving a teaching qualification and/or assessor and verifier qualifications.

Appropriate trade specific qualifications.

Knowledge and interest in advancements and current trends.

Good communicator with a range of leadership, practical and coordination skills.

Self motivated but also be able to work as part of a team.

IT literate or be prepared to undertake relevant training.

CRB Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.

GCSE Maths and English or level 2 qualification must be obtained

Within one year.

Desirable

·Teaching experience particularly 16-19 year olds and adults.

·Possession of Assessor/Verification Awards.
