Job Description
We are working with another recruitment company who are the primary recruiter whose client is an international fuel distributor, who provides vital services in fuel management and supply to both the military and private companies operating in post conflict and remote areas.
Founded in 1957, our client has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments. Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, site services and fuel management.
The client is the Fuels Trading Division which provides vital services in fuel management and supply to both the military and private companies operating in post conflict and remote areas.
They are currently seeking a number of Fuel Operations Managers who will manage fuel operations at a military camp in Afghanistan.
The role is broad in scope encompassing the day to day responsibility of fuel operations at one or more camps located in Afghanistan.
This will include the transporting and storing of fuel, spillage response procedures, emergency disaster planning and response etc. In addition you will monitor all shipments in transit from the refinery to the bulk fuel facilities checking the quality of all bulk fuel deliveries and maintaining the storage facility. Client liaison, stock control, invoicing together with being the point of contact for all fuel enquiries are key tasks of the role.
You will liaise with ISAF Member countries personnel, Bulk Fuel Installation personnel, sub contractors and the local refinery to ensure effective operational and safety procedures are in place.
Person Specification
You should ideally have a military background and have considerable experience in bulk fuel distribution and all associated operational aspects of fuel storage and distribution.
Additionally you should be familiar with testing equipment for checking fuel.
Your knowledge and experience should ideally be supported by having attended courses at The Royal Logistics School of Petroleum based at West Moors, Dorset. England or equivalent.
It is desirable if you posses HAZMAT Operators Licence for Class 1 and 3 vehicles and also hold a Certificate in Health and Safety Management.
Past experience within Pakistan and Afghanistan is highly beneficial as is working in any remote or isolated location.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally some Dari or Pashto language skills, and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment. Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate - Microsoft Office.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Fuels Manager looking for something different. Whilst the Clients operation is somewhat different they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 12 – 18 months commitment.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry
