City Warden (Leicester) X 2
To help maintain a clean, attractive and safe street scene environment.
· To reduce the incidence of street scene and enviro-crime offences committed within the City.
· To improve public awareness of the problems arising from non-compliance.
· To visit business and educational establishments and local community groups to raise awareness of these problems.
· To issue fixed penalty notices and other statutory notices for street scene offences.
· To prepare evidence for possible prosecution.
· To liaise and work collaboratively with other officers involved in street scene enforcement, Area Service Managers (City Cleansing), environmental health staff, Highway Management Officers, the Police, etc.
· To act as a visible (uniformed) enforcement presence in the streetscene environment and to provide “on-street” advice to the public, signposting other council services where appropriate.
Person Specification
· Ability to maintain good customer care standards with a diverse range of people
· Good presentation skills to promote the Council’s policies to all sections of the community.
· An ability to work under pressure and prioritise in order to meet deadlines and achieve targets
· Demonstrate an ability to follow set procedures and practice particularly in relation to enforcing legislation.
· Must be able to recognise discrimination in its many forms and willing to put the Council's Equality Policies into practice.
· Be sensitive to the needs of disadvantaged groups in the provision of this service and the commitment to addressing any such disadvantages.
· Able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.
· Committed and enthusiastic towards local environmental protection and achieving high standards of compliance with street scene legislation in the city.
Qualifications & Experience
IT experience and ability including: • Word Processing • Inputting/interrogating databases • Keyboard skills • Maintaining/updating computerised records
Salary Package
From £16k - £21k per annum dependant on experience.
This is a temporary role, initially for 10 months, but with the potential to last for at least two years.
